4th Transformative Consumer Research Conference in Lille (May 2013)

For its fourth edition in 2013, the Transformative Consumer Research Conference has crossed the Atlantic for the first time and taken place in Lille at SKEMA Business School. Lille was chosen to broaden participation in this international event and grow enthusiasm for the TCR movement.

I had the pleasure to co-chair the conference with Prof. Jim Burroughs. I would like to express my gratitude to the Association for Consumer Research (ACR), to Conseil Régional Nord-Pas de Calais, Université Lille 2 and SKEMA Business School who sponsored the event.

Colleagues from across Europe, America, and other parts of the world have attended and contributed to discussing many social issues addressed by the conference. The conference has represented an important moment of discussion to direct research projects and reflections towards the enhancement of consumer welfare and positive social change.

Eight tracks (poverty and vulnerability; developing markets; immigration, culture and ethnicity; family, risk and consumption; sustainability; health and nutrition; materialism; and innovative research methods) have worked hard to unpack emerging issues and criticalities at the core of each of their research axes. These efforts have resulted in the development of several collaborations between researchers to be actualised in papers and teaching projects.

More information and feedback on the conference on the SKEMA Mercur website.

The next conference will be held in June 2015 in Villanova (USA). Click here for more details.
